FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS

A candidate who has skilled work experience, meets required language proficiency level in at least one Canadian official language (English/French), with intension of living in a province other than Quebec and has the ability to establish himself/herself, economically in Canada is said to satisfy minimum eligibility criteria for Federal Skilled Worker class.

Here, skilled work experience means at least 1 continuous year, paid, in the same job, in any occupation that is classified under National Occupation Classification O,A,B level, and is equivalent to Canadian full time ( 30 hours/week or 1560 hours /year) or part time (15 hours/week) for continuous 2 years, within last 10 years. The candidate must have CLB 7 (Canadian Language Benchmark) in all four skills (Speaking, Reading, Listening, Writing), in either English or French.

Furthermore, candidate must have sufficient funds for himself/herself and accompanying family members.

After having satisfied minimum eligibility requirements, candidate is assessed against 6 selection factors, namely:

Language Proficiency
Work Experience
Education
Adaptability
Employment

There is a selection factor point grid system, which is used to calculate your score to see the highest levels a candidate has, in each of the above area. A candidate must score at least 67, in this selection factor points so as to be able to qualify as a candidate under Federal Skilled Worker economic stream for immigration as a Permanent Resident. This point system is different that the CRS score criterion.

Candidate must meet admissibility requirements at all times.
